Congratulations on your teams’ qualification for this National Championship! The Norfolk Blues are proud to be able to host your team in beautiful Virginia Beach, VA! The administrators, coaches, players, and alumni are excited to provide you with the best customer service possible with the goal of making your playing experience the best possible experience for your players, coaches, fans, and alumni.

You will be playing in our state of the art Virginia Beach Sportsplex which boasts luxury suites, chair back seating for 6,000 and an additional 4,000 bleacher seats, locker rooms with showers, concessions, restrooms, free parking, and a state of the art playing surface.  The address of the stadium is 2181 Landstown Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23456.

Return to Steve Cohen (sdcohen4@mindspring.com, 609-714-2203 before 9pm) no later than Monday April 18. This information will be used by the match commentators. All players and coaches must sign the Media Waiver form (one form per person). These forms are to be given to me at the Event. No need to get them to me beforehand.

Video Coverage

BC Productions will be providing professional Video coverage of this event. The match commentators will be USAR Women's National Team standout Phaidra Knight and Matt Robinette an experienced player, coach, administrator and rugby referee. Jacqueline Baires will provide sideline reporting, interviews with coaches, etc.

We will be creating a complete event DVD for each match which all teams will be expected to purchase (to cover production cost). This cost is not part of NSCRO Budget that is funded by the Unions as it is a service provided to the 4 participating teams. We expect cost per match to be around $200 per team to pay for the production and commentator. Additional copies of a match DVD will be available for purchase at $20 each.

In addition, we will be offering Live Webstreaming from the main camera for all matches for fans and families who cannot be in Virginia Beach to watch over the Internet. We hope to cover the cost of this service through sales of Ads and also Access Fee (for fans and families). Access fee is expected to be quite reasonable and cover all 4 matches.

Our Media Ad form shows 4 levels of partnership that will be part of the both the Live Webstreaming and finished DVD. If you / your club know of potential sponsors, including University Book Stores, Local Eateries, your local T-shirt shop or any establishment your team frequents, please provide contact information; Steve Cohen (sdcohen4@mindspring.com, 609-714-2203 before 9pm) will contact them to discuss the matter further. Feel free to pass along the Media Ad form to them for their consideration.

Traveling

Air travel – The closest airport is the Norfolk International Airport located 5 miles from the hotel and 15 miles from the stadium. Shuttle service to and from the airport is NOT provided by the hotel. Cabs are approximately $40 one way.

By Car – Virginia Beach is easily accessed via Interstate 95 and Interstate 64.

Stadium Information

The field – uses FieldTurf (www.fieldturf.com/) – the same material used in the Baltimore Ravens stadium and rugby specific stadiums around the world!  So long studded cleats are not necessary.  

The Locker Rooms – Locker will be available for you to use prior to your matches. Teams will have to completely vacate the locker rooms by halftime of their match. If needed, we can arrange for showers to be used at the facility. Please note that you will be responsible for your own towels and toiletries. Locker rooms will be locked at the kickoff of each match and re-opened at half time.

Suites – Catered suites are available for your alumni and parents. Please contact 757-427-2990 if you are interested in reserving a suite!

Parking – there are over 2,000 parking spaces available for free. Charter bus parking is not an issue.

Entry – general public entry is free and open to the public.

Food and Beverages – Concessions are available.  Teams are PROHIBITED from bringing in their own food and beverages into the stadium.  No one is permitted to bring in their own energy drink, water, soda, snacks, or lunches. No coolers will be permitted into the stadium.

NOTE: Coolers of ice and water will be provided for teams to use to fill water bottles. Coolers will be located at each bench.
